The book was like whatevers.
I mean, it was ok. It wasn't completely horrible, but it wasn't OMG! either.
De La Cruz obviously showed signs of having done research, so for that I'm eternally grateful. The book was very "teen". It was like "Gossip Girl" with vampires. And, while that's perfectly fine, she did tend to drone on about who was wearing what, and who did this, and who had the best party. Arond the end it seemed like if she got tired of writing, and was just skipping to different places trying to end it.
The good thing, though, was that I didn't really see the death of her grandmother coming. So it was somewhat suspenseful. I was surprised. The Vampires= Fallen Angels, well that was a little weird. But hey at least she gave reasons and signs of research. The Croatan thing was pretty ingenius. She tied it in, with little mistake. She also gave reasons for the whole sunlight thing, and gave a sense of arrogance as to why.
All in all, it was good. It's not my new obssesion, but you guys should read it.
I have decided to give the rest of the books a chance, because you never know if the first one was just a warm-up. The rest might be good.
